There's also the Nootropic Design Video Experimenter, but while cheap, you have to pretty much dedicate an Arduino to it (and even then you'll only get basic tracking with it). Neither are very inexpensive either (actually, I'm not even sure you can buy and AVRCAM - you might have to build it yourself). Also a 1W RGB led and a buzzer will do the job well so no need of a sprinkler which will wet the area. You're not going to find such a thing (or if you do, it won't be cheap) the closest thing I can think of that does something like that (object tracking) would be a CMUCAM or AVRCAM device and those only do very basic tracking of objects.

I don't think I will use sprinklers because since the sprinkler will have to be placed at roof terrace level there won't be any water pressure so I will have to invest in a water pump. The animal I'm trying to detect is slightly bigger than a cat but has a really long tail. Tried 2 different of them radar modules and they only pick up human motion.

I don t want a lot of false alarms which will definitely lead to annoyed neighbors. Tried tweaking both sensitivity and distance of HC-SR501 but no use. One of my neighbors successfully deterred a cat from using her flower garden as a litter box with a sprinkler that was rigged to turn on for a few seconds every few minutes. How big an animal are we trying to detect? They may or may not be more sensitive to your critter. I've picked up a selection and they seem to work pretty well at detecting small hand motions from relatively short range, but I haven't done much more than that. There are a bunch of low-cost radar sensor modules showing up on eBay and the like which function much like PIR modules. You might try tweaking it to get better detection, probably at the cost of more false alarms. PIR modules generally have a sensitivity adjustment.

He already enjoys the free swimming pool, now you want me to hope that he won't a free shower?. Just have to hope then that the critter doesn't enjoy a free shower every night! What are your suggestions? Will an infrared correlation photoelectric trip light work or are there better options? Just some flashy lights and a buzzer will do the job in scaring him away but the detection part has proven to be a challenge.

I ve checked the sensors and they do work and detect my presence without fail. I’ve then tried both pir sensors and a doppler/ultrasonic radar but he is like a ghost and is never detected. I cannot use traps because they are illegal and I don’t want to hurt him. Tried the same again in criss cross like pattern but to no avail. I’ve tried conventional methods like using a mono filament line as a trip wire and attached it to a couple of empty cans which will make noise but the sneaky little ninja never even touches them. Feral animals can be unpredictable so I don’t want to get hurt or get rabies, also it’s not practical for me to randomly go out every night and scare him away. I’ve scared him away a couple of times but the persistent thing still keeps coming back. I’ve been facing a problem for quite a while now and couldn’t figure out a solution, so I need your help.Įvery night an unwelcome visitor comes to my home's terrace and hangs around the water tank and makes a big mess.
